Horrible creatures vegetables, aren't they? Not everything terrifying is bad for us. If you have a mountain to climb and there is a restaurant on the way that distracts you from your goal, a diversion is created. Once you have diverted a little, that diversion grows. Reality is nothing but an illusion made up by our minds and beauty is nothing more than a social construct.
